Full or Partial Dentures

According to the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR), 3.75% of adults aged 20 to 64 in the United States are completely edentulous. On average, this age group has 24.92 remaining teeth out of the total 32 permanent teeth.

Dentures are an effective solution to replace missing teeth and restore oral function and appearance. Depending on the case, dentures can replace a few missing teeth or all teeth in the upper or lower jaw. Beyond restoring a natural smile, dentures support the natural contours of the face, eliminating the "sunken" appearance caused by missing teeth.

Dentures are removable appliances designed to rest comfortably on the gums. They can be removed for cleaning, sleeping, and maintaining oral hygiene.

Types of Dentures:

  • Full Dentures: Replace all teeth in the upper or lower jaw. They include conventional full dentures, immediate dentures, and overdentures.
  • Partial Dentures: Replace multiple missing teeth while preserving some natural teeth in the dental arch. These dentures are secured using clasps or precision attachments to adjacent teeth.

Full Dentures:

  • Conventional Full Dentures: Fabricated after all teeth are removed and tissues have healed, ensuring a precise and comfortable fit.
  • Immediate Dentures: Inserted on the day teeth are removed, preventing the patient from being without teeth during the healing process. These may require adjustments or replacements later for improved fit.
  • Overdentures: Receive additional stability from attachments to remaining teeth or dental implants.

Partial Dentures:

  • Cast metal and acrylic materials
  • Acrylic alone
  • Thermoplastic resins such as Valplast™, Flexite®, Duroflex®, and tcs®
